Chinese Garden at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
The Chinese Garden at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is designed as a place of harmonious beauty that integrates artistry with nature, offering visitors a serene environment for peaceful contemplation and renewal. The garden is also home to three magnificent rocks symbolizing mountains, a special gift from the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government in central China, emphasizing the garden’s cultural and international connections.
This initiative is part of a partnership between the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and the Chinese American community, showcasing the harmonious blend of cultures, friendship, and community. St. Paul – Changsha Friendship Garden at Lake Phalen
The St. Paul-Changsha China Friendship Garden, located at Lake Phalen in St. Paul, Minnesota, symbolizes the longstanding friendship between Minnesota and China, acknowledging their sister-city relationship. This garden is not only a testament to international relations but also serves to promote understanding of China’s rich cultural heritage and the cultural and ancestral connections between the Hmong communities in Minnesota and Changsha, Hunan Province. The project highlights the contributions of the Chinese American community to the Twin Cities and aims to build a cultural bridge that could enhance international trade and tourism between China and Minnesota.
This garden is part of a collaborative effort, featuring volunteer involvement in gardening activities, including planting Siberian irises and peonies, and adding garden infrastructure. It is family-friendly and located on the east side of St. Paul, making it a serene destination for residents and visitors to enjoy and learn from.
